Comparison
ezyZip vs Foretaste, starting from a link
ezyZip’s extension sends an archive link to the ezyZip web extractor. Foretaste reads the file in its own tab, archives and every other kind, and shows how much of it was read.
Everything said about ezyZip here is in its own words, from its own listing or policy, read on 12 October 2026. Sources

Side by side
| What | ezyZip | Foretaste |
|---|---|---|
| The gesture | Right-click any archive link and extract it instantly with ezyZip. S1 | Right-click a file link and choose Open with Foretaste, or press the small button Foretaste puts beside a file link. |
| Where the archive is read | The archive opens in a new ezyZip tab and is extracted locally. S2 The same listing says: Files never leave your machine. The site says: Extraction runs entirely in your browser. No file data is sent to a server. | The file opens in Foretaste's own tab, or in a panel over the page, and is read there. No file, file name or page address goes to a Foretaste server. |
| Opening an archive that is still on the web | If the ZIP is hosted online, you can extract it straight from the link without saving it to your computer first. S3 The page does not say how much of the archive is transferred to list or extract it. | A ZIP is listed from the index at its end, over byte ranges. Measured: a 40 MB archive listed for about 67 KB. The amount read is shown under the file. |
| Files that are not archives | Right-click any link to an archive file and choose Extract with ezyZip. S1 The extension's listing describes archive links. | Opens documents, spreadsheets, slides, PDFs, pictures, audio, video, subtitles, fonts, databases and datasets from a link, as well as archives. |
| Data the extension collects | This extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. S2 The listing adds that its only network change is injecting CORS response headers on archive downloads initiated from ezyZip.com and ezyzip.pro pages. | No analytics in the extension, and the build fails on any network beacon. Foretaste does not change any site's response headers. |

The questions people ask
Is Foretaste an alternative to ezyZip?
For opening an archive from a link to see what is inside, yes. Foretaste reads it in its own tab rather than handing it to a website, lists a remote ZIP from its index rather than the whole file, and opens documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, media and data files from a link as well as archives.
Does ezyZip upload my files?
Its own listing says “Files never leave your machine”, and its site says extraction “runs entirely in your browser”. Foretaste makes the same promise about its own tab: no file, file name or page address reaches a Foretaste server.
How much of an online archive does each one read?
ezyZip’s page says you can extract a hosted ZIP straight from the link, and does not say how much of it is transferred. Foretaste lists a ZIP from the index at its end and shows the amount read under the file: about 67 KB of a 40 MB archive.
