Licence
Your licence key
A key is a short signed string that turns Pro on. It is checked inside the extension, on your own machine, which is why there is nothing on this page to paste it into.
01
Using a key
- Open Foretaste's popup and choose Settings.
- Find the Pro section.
- Paste the key from your receipt and press Activate Pro.
That is the whole process. Activating sends the key to Foretaste once, and nothing else goes with it — no account, no email, nothing about your browser or what you have opened. What comes back is a signed licence Foretaste stores and checks on your own machine from then on. Paste the same key on as many computers as you use; there is no activation count, because there is nothing counting.
02
What gets checked, and what does not
A subscription — monthly or yearly — is checked with Foretaste once a day. That check is how a renewal, a cancellation or a refund reaches your copy, and it is the only request Foretaste makes that is not for a file you asked to see. It sends your licence number and nothing else: no file name, no address, no page, nothing about what you opened or when. It carries no cookies and no identifier for you, your device or your browser, and the answer is a new licence key.
A lifetime key is never checked at all. Nothing about it can change, so nothing asks.
If we are unreachable, Pro keeps working. Being unable to confirm a licence is not evidence against it, and locking a paying customer out of a file they are looking at is a worse failure than briefly trusting a key we could not re-read.
03
If something is wrong
Foretaste says the key was not issued by Foretaste. Something was lost copying it — keys are one line with no spaces. Copy it again from the receipt, whole.
It says Pro ran out. The date in the key has passed and so has the week of grace after it. If you are still subscribed, press Check now in Settings: that asks us for a current key straight away instead of waiting for the daily check.
You cancelled and Pro is still on. That is deliberate. Cancelling stops the next payment; the time you already paid for is yours until it ends.
You have lost the key. It is in the receipt email from the payment provider. If that is gone too, get in touch with the email address you paid with.
